Although tomato soup is probably the most universal and popular soups, it is hard to make a simple and delicious bowl at home. The recipe we found manages to find the right balance between simplicity and taste.

The Lousy Hunters' Theorem for all food:
Healthy x Tasty = A Constant

This was true before we found this gem of a salad recipe on ETV's Rasoi Show. Pretty tasty for a salad! Enjoy!

Recipe Review: Ummah's Mujadarra

One of our favorite middle-eastern recipes as it brings back memories of a little Lebanese joint we used to frequent in Boston. I cannot confirm the exact cuisine as it is categorized under Turkish, Lebanese, Iranian and even Syrian on the Internet. It is extremely subtle on the palate and you can taste every ingredient that has gone into making it. Enjoy!

Star Recipe: Simply Recipes' Bruschetta

You might call them "Broo-shetaas" or "Broos-ketaas" but there is no denying that they are the most popular Italian appetizer. They are quick to make and go great with your favorite wine while you are waiting for your pasta entrée. There are a lot of variations when it comes to the toppings. The recipe we chose is probably the most basic and quick. Buon Appetito!

Recipe Review: Tempuras, Fukujinzuke and Japanese Curry with Rice

Japanese food is not all sushi, soups and noodles. Although it could be a real task for vegetarians to get a good variety at Japanese restaurants, here's a meal we enjoy. The curry and rice goes along great with the fried veggies and the pickle and makes for a great Japanese meal overall. This meal serves as a good break from the usual curry rice combos we have. It can be a good introduction to Japanese food for those who stay away from the cuisine thinking that the food is often bland and uncooked.

Family Recipe: Quick Mango Margaritas, Salsa Roja & Salsa Verde - Indian Style

There is no doubt that Mexican food is not as popular in Mumbai as we would like. There are a few restaurants in the western suburbs that do a good job but are hard to get to for the rest of Mumbai. Our cook's recipe of salsa, although a little indianized, goes well with tortilla chips and some chilled mangoritas. Salute!

Family Recipe: Misal Pav - Bread soaked in spicy curry, Need I say more!

Image Source: Ajay Awtaney's Flickr Photostream
Misal Pav is a common man's lunch in Mumbai. We are addicted to it just because of its a simple yet flavorful meal. It is basically eaten by breaking morsels of bread, dipping it in the curry (usal) and grabbing as many lentils and fried snacks as possible before stuffing it all into your mouth. This one's a family recipe and has been tweaked to suit our tastes. Messy eaters, grab an apron!

Star Recipe: OneHotStove's Kati Rolls

A great idea for a light lunch, game night or a potluck - Kati rolls are spicy rolls and a staple of the tipsy Mumbaikars hunting for food after the bars shut down.
